Stansfeld Scott is proud to introduce Domaine Elena de Mendoza (Domaine EdeM) — a boutique Argentine wine project from Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, built by the Catena Institute of Wine to prove that no-alcohol and low-alcohol wine can be genuinely delicious, not just “good for what it is.”
The project is named for Elena Maza, the mother of renowned winemaker Laura Catena, who wanted something lighter than a traditional wine but just as enjoyable to sip before dinner. That simple wish set off five years of research inside the Catena Institute of Wine, combining sensory science, wine chemistry and cutting-edge cold extraction technology to remove alcohol without stripping away flavor and character.
The result is a full portfolio built for today’s moderation-minded drinker:
N.o Rosæ
0% ABV dealcoholized sparkling rosé, pale salmon pink, with citrus, orange peel and cocoa husk notes
Brunette & Blonde
Non-alcoholic, vermouth-style sparkling apéritifs made from vinifera grape must, verjus and native Argentine botanicals
Every wine carries the pedigree of the Catena family and the hands-on craft of winemaker Agustín Silva, who joined the Catena Institute of Wine in 2023 to lead development of the range.
In the video below, Agustín explains how the Blonde and Brunette are made.
As Featured in Forbes:
Forbes contributor Jeanette Hurt recently profiled the project, noting that Laura Catena set out to make wines that could stand next to full-strength Chardonnay. As Catena put it to Forbes, her goal was simple: figure out “how can we make something really delicious.”
The article points to real momentum behind the category, citing Vitikit’s projection of a 4% compound annual growth rate for no- and low-alcohol wines through 2028 — placing Domaine EdeM at the front of one of the fastest-growing segments in wine.
