Kim Crawford's vineyards, located in the Marlborough region of New Zealand, are divided into blocks based on various factors including soil, topography and microclimate. For each vintage, approximately 100 samples of just over 200 are carefully chosen to produce the final wine.

For the Kim Crawford Blending Seminar, key restaurant and hotel buyers, wine writers, and Select Brands on-trade team used a specially designed Kim Crawford wine blending kit. Prior to tasting the Kim Crawford wine samples, Stansfeld Scott's Caribbean Area Manager Andres Lugo enlightened attendees on the sub-regions and plots where the grapes were made to see if they could identify the differences.

The six samples were from Lower Wairau, Awatere Valley, Blind Valley, Rapaura, Southern Valleys, and Rarangi. Seminar attendees then pipetted a small amount of each sample to create their own blend. Wine writer, Christopher Reckord, who wrote about the event in the Jamaica Observer article, “Everything Is A Blend” commented, “ This proved to be great fun with just six samples; imagine what it would be to select the final 120 plots from the 200 different sites!” As a special bonus, guests sampled the new Kim Crawford Spitfire, a blend of the best two blocks out of the 240."

Kim Crawford is one of the best examples of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on the market, and the number one premium-selling Sauvignon Blanc in the USA. This blending seminar provided a chance for wine lovers to experience the expertise and talents of Kim Crawford winemakers as they craft the final blend in order to 'undo ordinary'.
